Traveling milestone
Denise and I had an opportunity to make a trip last weekend. (July 20th) In the past, a four hour drive was not a big deal. This trip gave us a moment’s pause. Nonetheless, we made the trip to the beach! No swimming in the ocean, of course. But it was lovely to spent some…
Anyone that has been chronically or even acutely worn out knows that there is something of a hurtle to overcome in making it to events that perviously had been easy.
A real J Tube is in.
A couple of weeks ago, (6/24) Denise had her original J Tube replaced with a new, smaller, more appropriate J tube. It is a low profile J tube, replacing the original Foley catheter. The hope is that this new tube will be easier for her to bear and provide her with a better long term…
Second week out
It has now been two weeks since Denise was released a second time from hospital. (That was March 30). She has been able to eat a little bit every day and continues to try to maximize the rate of her formula intake through the J tube. The recovery remains very slow. Formula and eating both…
One week out.
Denise has now been home for a week. The surgical site is healing well, but is still tender. Her adjustment to getting fed enough by the J tube is slow. Whenever she tries to increase the rate, she feels ill and has to back it off. She is still only at 2/3 the target…
Escape part two
3/30 Denise was released from the hospital this afternoon and came home. She is still having trouble getting enough water and formula, and often feels unwell. Nonetheless she is determined to get well and strong.
Step by Step
Time in the hospital has allowed the team to help Denise to have less gastric pain. They continue to try to get the right formula and feed rate up to a good level so that she could go home. There is still a way to go before they can call it sufficient for her…
Back a Step
It was very nice for Denise to be home. She was able to sleep in her own bed. However by midday Monday, 3/25 she was feeling weak and experiencing difficulty tolerating even the mild feed rate she was getting. On the scheduled visit to her Gastrointestinal Doctor that afternoon, they decided that IV fluids were…
Escape made good
Sunday 3/24 1pm:Denise is home from the hospital.Slow and steady remain the by words as Denise works to get enough nutrition from the J Tube to make a difference for her strength and health. She will be adding actual food soon, too. But later.Nonetheless, she’s glad to be home. welcome home Denise and Lloyd
