Overview of prep for a virtual New Covenant Passover meal.
Based upon Steve Rodgers’ “A Passover Primer and Haggadah for New Covenant Believers”.
Roughly not the following:
A shopping list:
- horseradish – hot
- parsley
- cucumber or radish
- an egg to hard boil
- Matzah bread
- Wine or grape juice
- Apples, nuts and wine for Charoset
- Dinner items
- The Z’roah – The shank bone of a lamb; thoroughly cleaned – Alternately other bone or a beet.
Participant Preparations (Summary)
- Seder Plate Components (to refer to during the Haggadah.
- Z’ro-ah – the shank bone of a lamb (some people use a clean chicken bone or even a beet!)
- Maror –Bitter Herbs: Horseradish
- Karpas (A vegetable) – generally Parsley it gets dipped in salt water or sometimes vinegar.
- Khazeret – (A second bitter vegetable) Parsley, Radish, Cucumber, or romaine lettuce.
- Kharoset – Nut, Wine and Apple mixture.
- Seder meal components
- Matzah
- Wine or Grape juice
Around the table:
- Candlesticks and candles
- Wineglass
- Two large cloth napkins
- A Matzah Tash and one for the Afikomon
- A bowl for salt water (each person)
- A bowl for washing hands
- Hand towels – for drying washed hands
- More Matzahs to eat
- Kharoset aplenty
- More horseradish
- Bitter herb to dip in salt water
Typical Passover Meal (pg xxxii)
- pickled herring
- chopped liver
- olives
- kosher dill pickles
- matzo ball soup
- baked chicken or brisket of beef
- tzimmes (fruit casserole)
- fruit salad
- potatoes (Kugel or Latkes)
- macaroons
- sponge cake with fruit
- fruit Kugels
